Constructed Realities is a biennial awards program established at the behest of the Small Firms Committee, AIA San Francisco.


Constructed Realities is a biennial awards program established at the behest of the Small Firms Committee. Constructed Realities recognizes exemplary performance in a broad range of architectural work, informing the public of the diversity, value, and social power of architecture. Entrants need not be AIASF members, and firms of all sizes are encouraged to enter with projects of varied scale and scope. The deadline for entries is July 18 at 1:00 pm.

Design Team Form

Social Impact Design Award

  • This category is open nation‐wide to all architects and designers.
  • Although the Social Impact award will honor multiple projects (at the juror’s discretion) using the Honor, Merit and Citation designations, only one honor award will be given.
  • One member of the honor award-winning design team for the Social Impact Award will be invited to join Interface and a group of 30 designers from around the world at the 2014 Salone del Mobile for a week of design immersion, inspired thinking, sustainable manufacturing, and fun! The trip will take you from the International Furniture Fair in Milan to the beautiful medieval cities of Verona and Ljubljana, Slovenia, during the week of April 8-13, 2014. All travel, accommodations, and activities will be courtesy of Interface.

Redeem IDP Credit Hours

IDP Candidates can redeem up to 40 hours per experience area (excluding leadership & service). Candidates should fill out the Design Competition Verification form. This form is to certify that the AIASF Constructed Realities program meets the requirements of completing a design competition for IDP credit as defined in the IDP Guidelines.

About the 2011 Competition

2011 categories were Architectural Detail, Pro Bono Design (in partnership with Public Architecture), Restaurant Design (in partnership with the Golden Gate Restaurant Association), and Architecture – Structures with a Small Budget (under $500,000 construction cost).
